Here’s the thing. This is the most amazing place I have ever seen. From the moment we walked out of the train station tunnel, I was the happiest person. Manarola is a tiny town embedded in a cliffside on the coast of Italy. There are four other towns alongside it, and together they are known as the Cinque Terre. YOU SHOULD GO. We got to our room and opened the window to a view of the entire town. I was kind of freaking out. And then we just walked around and stared at the view for hours because it’s crazy. Also, the food. We ate twice at a little place called Trattoria Dal Billy. The first time, our server told us about a special and we didn’t really follow anything he said, but we decided to go for it. It was 12 tiny plates of different seafood appetizers, and I think we’ve officially dubbed it our #1 meal in Italy. We were of course drinking wine as well. Part of the awesomeness of Cinque Terre is that you can actually hike from one town to another, but it’s pretty intense. We hiked up toward Riomaggiore and turned around at the top, just because we wanted to see the view, and I can’t imagine doing that multiple times. So we were lame and took a boat to one of the other towns, Vernazza. Plenty of people were sunbathing on the giant rocks and swimming, and Cameron took a moderately embarrassing video of me climbing around with my camera banging into things. (What are lens hoods for, right?) It was an amazing little town, but of course our hearts were in Manarola. It was just incredible. So here are some of my favorite photos! Yay!
